A 12 month maternity leave cover contract has come up for an experienced Business Development Manager in an international commercial law firm.

Reporting to the Head of Business Development & Marketing, the role holder will provide support across the firm's four core sectors of Transport, Trade, Energy & Infrastructure and Insurance. The role will focus on working with fee-earners and marketing colleagues to deliver marketing and BD activity which will support the firm's growth strategy and represents value for money and return on investment. You will work in close collaboration with the marketing team, the Group Managing Partners and the Global Head of Corporate to implement the core, budgeted marketing activities and plans in support of partner BD activity. You will be required to organise and manage partner and lawyer participation in client facing, sales driven initiatives such as events, seminars and client workshops. The successful applicant will co-ordinate and manage the pitch process including managing the pitch portal and content and preparing pitches and capability statements as required. You will be responsible for supporting product and service development and packaging and building comprehensive campaigns around these, promoting new business ideas within or across groups that are aligned to strategic goals and objectives. You will also be tasked with promoting new business ideas, preparing submissions for key legal directories and awards and increasing usage of firm's CRM system.

You will have significant BD experience working in a professional services environment, preferably but not necessarily legal, to include experience of developing and implementing business and marketing plans, budgeting and working with groups and individual partners to create and roll out agreed marketing campaigns and activities. The Business Development Manager will be a resilient individual who possess strong management, project management and communication and copywriting skills and who thrives working in challenging and sometimes ambiguous environments.
