This position involves providing day-to-day, practical business development support, market research and advice to the Real Estate team of a national law firm with the aim of building and sustaining existing client relationships and profitably exploiting new business opportunities. The successful candidate will be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow but will be expected to travel to all other offices as required.

A key member of the business development team, reporting to the Business Development and Marketing Director as well as to the head of Real Estate, the Senior BD Manager will be supported by a Business Development Co-ordinator. The role holder will work closely with the other business development professionals to ensure business planning, new client targeting, client care programmes, and information on existing and potential cases are successfully co-ordinated. The successful candidate will be based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow but expected to travel to all other offices as required. The Senior BD Manager will be seen as an integral part of the management team of the Real Estate group, and will be instrumental in ensuring that business development is regarded by partners as a critical aspect of their business and a key tool in maintaining and increasing the firm's profitability. In addition to your practice group responsibilities, the Senior BD Manager will also have a firm-wide role to perform. You will work as a key support to the Director of BD & Marketing to develop, guide and manage the BD team and its activities to ensure maximum value is added to the business. You will also work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and the Head of Comms who, combined with the Director, make key decisions about firm activity, developing strategies and creating opportunities.

The successful candidate will be a pro-active graduate with at least 7 years' business development experience within a professional services firm, ideally with additional professional marketing or business qualifications. You must be an excellent communicator, and have strong persuasion, motivational and interpersonal skills, and be able to work well under pressure with deadlines to meet. You should also have experience of working with senior management, including having presented up to Board level, and demonstrate attention to detail and a strong client focus, as well as an enthusiasm to develop an in-depth understanding of the Real Estate market in the UK and across Europe.
