Business Development Manager - Management Consultancy
A wide ranging business development role has arisen within a professional services business that provides business and operational advice to major clients across various industries including retail, manufacturing and financial clients in the UK and internationally. The role of the Business Development Manager is to manage and develop the processes and activities of new business opportunities for the senior team who carry out the direct sales activities for existing and new clients.
The role holder will be expected to obtain a company, client and industry understanding and to have a strong awareness of customer and prospect needs, growth opportunities, market conditions and competitor data. A strong, results-driven self-starter, you will be expected to create, own and drive active and effective business development activity. The Business Development Manager will co-ordinate and manage a new business development strategy, plan, process and supporting library of information and tools and will develop, grow and co-ordinate a structured new business development process, managing new business development investment and development initiatives and working with the individual market and service focused teams on their business development activities. You will be responsible for maintaining, monitoring and reviewing the firm's sales pipeline and CRM system and must actively work with the client facing Partners and seniors to make these work for the business and will also support new business pitch teams in creating and delivering the most effective approach. In addition, the role holder will be part of the team developing, updating and overseeing an integrated marketing and sales strategy, working alongside the UK Marketing Manager to develop the reputation, brand and positioning of the firm within its target marketplace and overseeing and managing the way in which the firm's brand is communicated through business development activities and documents and define and manage the way in which the firm communicates its brand through communications with both staff and the market.
The firm is looking for a bright graduate with formal marketing qualifications and at least 5 years' experience working in a hands on new business development or marketing role within a professional services firm, preferably within the management consultancy field. The Business Development Manager must be exceptionally organised with strong project management skills and be able to adopt a structured and analytical approach to focusing business development problem solving. Highly articulate in written and spoken English, the ideal candidate will make a compelling and engaging brand ambassador and be comfortable interacting with and influencing senior business people and the firm's senior team.
