An opportunity has arisen for a Business Development specialist (preferably with previous transactional legal experience) to join a US Law firm as a Senior BD Manager. Based in the firm's London office, you will lead the business development functions and support the lawyers and practice areas across the firm's European offices of London, Paris, Frankfurt and Brussels. The role holder will be tasked with identifying and generating increased business opportunities.

The position reports to the Global Director of Business Development, as well each Managing Partner or senior partner in the European offices and has oversight of a Business Develop Analyst, who assists with responding to partners' requests for business development presentations and to publications' requests for submissions to surveys, directories and guides, and a Graphics Specialist, who assists on the creative and related production elements of the presentations, advertisements and other business development requests. The Senior BD Manager will be responsible for identifying business opportunities throughout Europe for the firm's worldwide practice and developing business development plans to capitalise on those opportunities. The successful candidate will be required to develop an in depth understanding of the firm's London, Paris, Frankfurt and Brussels practices, as well as the firm's capabilities in the U.S. and Asia that may be relevant to European clients. You will collaborate with key partners and the Global Director of Business Development to identify existing and prospective client opportunities for the firm's practices and assist in the creation of the annual development plan for each office including budget specific business development initiatives. You will also help define metrics that will be used to measure progress achieved throughout the year and develop alternatives as budget or strategy changes.

The firm's ideal candidate is an experienced transactional lawyer who has lived in Europe and worked in the European markets and has significant understanding of transactional terminology and processes, as well as basic understanding of litigation terminology, and is familiar with the competitive legal landscape and has a vision for effectively marketing S&C within that market. In addition, the Senior BD Manager will be an inspirational and resilient self-starter with excellent communication, organisation and analytical skills. Fluency in German or French would be a real plus.
